Highlights

80km far from Ulaanbaatar capital city, lies the area of Terelj, with its forests of larches, its rocky formations sculpted by the elements, its clear rivers and its green pastures where nomads and herds live in this exuberant nature. Spend three days with a local family of the area, the nearest beautiful place from Ulaanbaatar, to have a good overview of the nomadic way of life and the experience of hiking or horse riding, enjoy the natural beauties of the national park.

Day 1 Drive to Terelj 

• Journey to Gorkhi-Terelj national park, a real gorgeous green setting at the gates of the capital : rocky formations sculpted by erosion, mountains tree-filled with pines, plains scattered with wild flowers and edelweiss and rivers.
• Stop at turtle rock and Aryabal monastery.
• Arrive in nomad family.
• Overnight in Yurt . (Mongolian traditional accomodation)  (L/D)

Day 2 Horse trek and explore the nomad lifestyle 

• Horse trek along the Tuul River to go deeper in the park. Riding our horses, we'll discover a contrasting landscape made of rivers, steppes and forests.
• Stay with breeders who settled on the banks of the Tuul River. You'll discover wonderful landscapes and share the daily activities of the host family. You will be proposed many activities, such as milking the animals or making traditional dairy products. You will also attend the preparation of a Mongolian barbeque that you'll enjoy with your hosts.  (B/L/D)

Day 3 Back to Ulaanbaatar 

• In the morning, we can hike again, or stay with the family. We'll have lunch with the family for the last time.
• Drive to the 40 meters-high equestrian statue of Chingghis Khan. This statue is the tallest in the world of a man on horseback. Visit of the museum located inside the statue.
• Back to Ulaanbaatar. (B/L)
